To fully grasp the implications of such harmful beliefs, it is crucial to remember that it is not entirely within the individual’s control. The manipulative force that “comes to steal, kill, and destroy” (John 10:10) actively cultivates these misguided mindsets. This book is not merely a collection of insights; it’s a solemn call to action for God’s people, warning them of the adversary’s subtle and deceptive tactics. As articulated in 1 Peter 5:8, “Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.”

Through its pages, this book delves deep into the intricacies of implicit and explicit biases, with a particular focus on healthcare laws, both historical and contemporary, with special attention to the health policies of the Jim Crow era. It aims to enhance the quality of patient care by providing the tools necessary to recognize and dismantle biases, thereby paving the way for an equitable and just healthcare system for all.

This book also stands as an emotional historical narrative that addresses the issues at hand and celebrates the richness of Black culture, as well as the enduring legacy of the African Methodist Episcopal Church (AMEC). In doing so, it highlights the resilience and contributions of these communities, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation among all readers.

About the Author

Reverend Deberry P. Cook (she/her) is a remarkable chaplain and pastor who serves her community and the surrounding areas with distinction. Born in 1962 in the heart of Clarendon County, South Carolina, she was raised in a vibrant household alongside seven siblings (James, Jerome, Bobby, Ethel, Audrey, Kalvin Pearson, and Denise), nurtured in an environment rich in love, faith, and resilience.

For more than forty-three years, she has shared a supportive and enduring marriage. Together with her husband, she has raised a family that includes one son, two daughters, and six cherished grandchildren.

Her unwavering commitment to faith is reflected in a rich and expansive ecclesiastical journey. An ordained Itinerant Elder in the African Methodist Episcopal Church (AMEC), she has embodied spiritual leadership with both grace and purpose. Before the AMEC, she served for ten years as a pastor in the United Methodist Church, faithfully shepherding congregations with a deep commitment to Kingdom Building. Her spiritual impact extends beyond the pulpit. She is an Endorsed Professional Chaplain under the AMEC and formerly held board certification through the Association of Professional Chaplains (APC). Additionally, she is a Certified Mediator with the National Association of Certified Mediators (NACM), demonstrating her commitment to promoting understanding and reconciliation within the healthcare system and her broader community.

Driven by her deep passion for equity in the healthcare system, she established her Kingdom Building Ministry as a platform for transformative advocacy and spiritual empowerment.

Staying in a flex bedroom for few nights and got it to get some more coverage, super fast and easy to assemble, no tools or muscles needed, just pay attention to the ends of the bars : 2 vertical bottoms were marked, 4 horizontal ends are different to be easily attached to vertical frame; very lightweight but sturdy, nice shade of gray, the room still feels bright snd spacious; matches the description
