Like Huck Finn, Lane sees a river journey as a portal to change, but unlike Twain's character, Lane isn't escaping. He's getting intimate with the river that flows right past his home in the Spartanburg suburbs. Lane's threehundred-mile float trip takes him down the Broad River and into Lake Marion before continuing down the Santee River. Along the way Lane recounts local history and spars with streamside literary presences such as Mind of the South author W. J. Cash; Henry Savage, author of the Rivers of America Series volume on the Santee; novelist and Pulitzer Prize-winner Julia Peterkin; early explorer John Lawson; and poet and outdoor writer Archibald Rutledge. Lane ponders the sites of old cotton mills; abandoned locks, canals, and bridges; ghost towns fallen into decay a century before; Indian mounds; American Revolutionary and Civil War battle sites; nuclear power plants; and boat landings. Along the way he encounters a cast of characters Twain himself would envy--perplexed fishermen, catfish cleaners, river rats, and a trio of drug-addled drifters on a lonely boat dock a day's paddle from the sea. By the time Lane and his companions finally approach the ocean about forty miles north of Charleston they have to fight the tide and set a furious pace. I saw a difference with even one use.
I've struggled with dark marks from skin issues since childhood, and this soap made a noticeable difference in evening out my skin tone. It doesn't feel stripping like other brightening soaps I've tried, and my skin actually feels more hydrated after use. The lather isn't particularly luxurious, but that never mattered much to me. It's a plain white bar nothing special to look at but it smells nice. Would recommend for anyone dealing with hyperpigmentation or uneven tone.

This soap is great
After first use of the soap, my skin felt like it had truly been clean, and not dried out as I had expected. I plan on using it, only once a week however, I found twice in a week to be too much for my white skin, not for the effects of evening my skin tone, but over use of the product can ruin the great effects it has on the skin. Yes, this works for white folks, it gives you younger looking, healthier looking skin, body and face, which I noticed first use. Everything in moderation, we can all learn a lesson from Goldilocks, as it can be applied to pretty much everything.

Did not see any changes, fine as a regular soap I suppose
I have some age / sun spots and was really hoping that this would lighten them at least a little as
they are very noticeable. My skin is very fair / light and I’ve used two full bars (very small) every day for a few months now and have not noticed a single bit of improvement. (Yes, I wear sunscreen every day and have a dermatologist that recommended other products but not this one). The soap itself smells fine, but has not improved my skins color. I would say this is not effective and would not recommend this.

Hydrating lotion
I’m not sure about the skin care properties of this lotion. I haven’t used it long enough or consistently enough to state that it helped with my hyper pigmentation. However, I can’t say that it absorbs really well. It feels comfortable on the skin. And it is super hydrating. I’m considering purchasing it.
