The detail is excellent and features classic characters from the ancient armies of Greece and Rome. Includes the Emperor, Queen, officers and foot soldiers. The rook takes the form of a classic architectural column, and the knights are based on a horse-mounted infantry leader.
The chessboard is also made from sturdy metal and has a distinctive burnished olive green hand-applied finish, with pillar feet on each corner, slightly elevating the board when in play. Made in Greece by world-famous games maker Manopoulos.
