The Surprise is a "Premium" kit, utilizing Mamoli’s finest materials to capture the sleek, "fast-sailing" lines of a French-designed frigate:
Superior Hull Construction: Precision laser-cut keel and bulkheads provide a massive, rigid frame for the extensive planking process.
Master-Grade Double Planking: High-quality walnut and lime wood strips allow for a dual-layered hull that is as strong as it is beautiful.
Ornate Castings: Includes a wealth of lost-wax brass and cast metal fittings, specifically for the intricate transom (stern) decorations and the figurehead.
Heavy Armament: A full complement of scale-accurate cannons on wooden carriages, recreating the firepower that made the Surprise famous.
Rigging Complexity: The kit provides multiple spools of rigging thread in varied thicknesses and colors to facilitate the complex three-masted ship-of-war rigging plan.

Note: This is a comprehensive, large-format wood ship kit. It contains all structural wood, double planking, metal fittings, and rigging supplies.
Note for Builders: Due to the complexity and size, this kit is recommended for those with previous plank-on-frame experience.
Tools, glue, and paint are sold separately.
