Chalcopyrite is a brassy-gold copper iron sulphide mineral often showing iridescent colours. It is a major Copper ore, composed of Copper Iron Sulphide. It can host various trace elements including Arsenic, Bismuth, Cobalt, Silver, Stibnite and others. It is common in sulphide veins and is disseminated in igneous rocks. Weathering may lead to the formation of Malachite, Azurite and numerous other secondary copper minerals. Its brass yellow colour can also give way to iridescent green and grey colouring from surface oxidation.
