No destination, just the road ahead.

Beneath his worn leather boots, the earth shifts gently, rolling into golden hills that stretch as far as the eye can see. The Rambler walks with no hurry, no destination in mind—just the fading warmth of the sun at his back and the cool evening breeze carrying the scent of open fields and ripened fruit. The countryside hums with life as day surrenders to dusk, its colors deepening, its fragrances growing richer.

A cigar rests unlit between his lips, its scent mingling with the sweet, sun-kissed air. The fading heat of the afternoon clings to the land, stirring up the aroma of wild strawberries, raspberries, and currants, their tartness softened by the subtle spice of peppercorn and anise. These notes drift on the breeze, a fleeting memory of summer’s golden hours as twilight settles in.

The Rambler inhales deeply, the crisp night air mixing with the familiar warmth of tobacco and hay—a scent as steady and grounding as the man himself. Plum and rose bloom in the background, adding a quiet, unexpected richness, like the last light of the sunset stretching across the sky. There is comfort in this moment, in the simplicity of the road and the stories written in the landscape.

As the night deepens, the fragrance settles into something richer and more intimate. Coumarin, vanilla, and tonka bean lend a quiet sweetness reminiscent of a fireside evening where the world slows, and silence feels like an old friend. The lingering scent of tobacco and red fruits clings to him like the memory of where he’s been—a trail of warmth and nostalgia woven into the night air.

The Rambler is not just a fragrance; it is a moment in time—a slow, unhurried journey through the countryside, where the simple act of walking becomes a meditation, a way of being. It is for the man who does not measure life in miles but in moments, who finds his peace on the open road and his truth in the quiet of dusk.

He tips his hat to no one in particular, takes one last look at the painted sky, and continues on.

Wear The Rambler. Let the road lead you.

Hardy the poet
Format: Paperback
We all know Hardy the novelist, but perhaps he is less well known as a poet. In this volume of over 900 pages, with nearly 1,000 poems, Hardy is colorful, chatty, direct, lyrical, thoughtful, deep. And perhaps his finest quality - at least so I find - is the fact that he is down-to-earth. His poems are not "difficult" for a reasonably literate, experienced reader; and the rhyming is never forced. In short, his poems are a delight.

The other side of one of the giants of the Victorian era.
Format: Paperback
Thomas Hardy is my favorite novelist who has ever lived. I preface the review of this poetry anthology - which includes every one of the 900+ poems he wrote throughout his life, from the 1860s to just before his death in 1928 - in this way because I’m a bit biased. Hardy’s poetry is technically satisfying and nearly as moving as his novels, and you can tell that the same precision he brought to prose is on full display in his verse. I’m working my way through every single poem in this collection, and thus far my favorites are “The Convergence of the Twain” and “After the Last Breath.” There are other poets whose works I like better (Dickinson, Yeats, Wordsworth, and Whitman come to mind), but as an amateur Hardy scholar, reading this collection is positively invaluable to understand the full depth of his genius, and as always Wordsworth Classics delivers in terms of a quality paperback that should withstand years of enjoyment. I own many of their releases and have yet to find one that even slightly disappoints.
