The Rookie Beach Lifeguard programme consists of:

Bronze, Silver, and Gold awards - designed to progressively teach Rookies
all the skills of beach lifesaving that they’ll need to start their journey to Beach Lifeguard.

Beach First Aid Speciality Award – to teach Rookies specialist beach first aid skills not found in our First Aid or Life Support speciality awards.

Rescue Board Speciality Award – an award to teach more in-depth rescue board skills that are taught in the main awards.

Rookie Master Beach Lifeguard – the pinnacle of the Rookie Beach awards
Candidate requirements
- Age: 8+ (at 12, it is recommended that candidates progress into the National Lifesaving Academy.
- Entry Level: Candidates can enter the awards at any level of the programme deemed suitable by the Rookie Instructor
- Swimming Ability: Candidates should be confident in the water and able to swim 25m confidently in the sea
- Completed the Beach Bronze Award
Sessions will run Monday - Wednesday each week in July and August 13:00- 15:30 One session is available or all three sessions to work towards completing the bronze, silver or Gold Awards.
